We first made our marshmallows in Washington, DC, where Karen played roller derby for the DC Rollergirls. During the season we held bake sales to support the league and raise funds for the All-Star's travel expenses and our marshmallows quickly became the most popular menu item. We started adding new flavors and when the season ended our loyal customers asked us where they could buy them outside of roller derby.
We made a website, found a commercial kitchen, and from 2010 to 2015 we sold our marshmallows online and in boutique shops in the DC area. We participated in the Fancy Food Show in DC and experienced wonderful publicity in USA Today and Zagat.
Karen Mary Confectionery and marshmallows took a back seat as we grew our family and relocated a few times to Austin and Baltimore. Recently, Ryan took a position as COO of Typhoon Farma, a commercial hemp farm on the Western Slope of Colorado.
We've taken our mallow recipes and added100% pure, organically grown CBD (THC free). The CBD comes from Ryan's farm in Colorado where he personally follows it from a seed in the ground to our marshmallows. We control the dosing and - because it comes direct from the farm without any middlemen - we can provide unique traceability.
We have always aimed to create delicious, hand-crafted marshmallows. Now, our goal is to provide the same gourmet experience in marshmallows with high quality, effective CBD dosing. Studies continue to show that a higher dose is needed than what is available in typical retail edibles. Every individual is different, as is their reaction to CBD, but we want to make sure that every customer has the opportunity to reap the benefits of CBD and enjoy the culinary delight of gourmet marshmallows.
